I’m Dr. Anna and I help children, teens, and parents just like you: ones that have it within them to be healthy and thriving again, but just need the support to get there. I help my clients find fulfillment, improve confidence, and reach their full potential by equipping them with the tools they need to cope with anxiety, chronic illness, and stress.

Many of today’s solutions for anxiety and stress are one-size-fits-all, leading many to feel like they’re doing the work but not making real progress. I know that your circumstances are unique, so each step we take is individually tailored to you, and with an end goal in mind.

First, we’ll examine the issues and patterns at the root of your stress and anxiety. Then, we’ll work on the skills for stress/anxiety management, interpersonal effectiveness, coping strategies, and behavior change that will be most effective for you. Through our work together, you’ll be equipped with the skills and confidence you need to thrive in your relationships and in life.

Hello and welcome!

I’m a clinical psychologist licensed by the Board of Psychology in California and Florida. My training in anxiety, chronic illness/medical coping, and cognitive behavior therapy means I have the expertise you need and deserve when working through life stressors. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be a person struggling with anxiety, behavior issues, or chronic illness. If you’re a parent, you want to work with someone who understands the challenges of parenting a child who is struggling with anxiety, strong-willed temperament, or chronic illness-related stress.

I get it because I was harsh on myself growing up as an anxious overachiever and did not develop healthy coping skills until later in life. Also, as a mother of a child with a chronic medical condition, I understand parent anxiety, grief, mom guilt, living with uncertainty, and caregiver burnout while focusing on hope and gratitude. I’ve dedicated over a decade to helping clients manage stress & anxiety, improve behavioral functioning across settings, and cope with chronic illness-related stressors. When we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.

What it’s like to work with me

You can call me “Anna,” “Dr. Anna,” or “Dr. Hung” — whatever is most comfortable for you. Therapy with me is a compassionate, gentle, and collaborative process. My style incorporates warmth, genuineness, and humor. I’m goal-oriented, results-driven, honest, and direct in my approach and I help clients view their concerns from a more balanced perspective. I help clients gain more clarity about the root of their problems, reduce anxiety, be more present, and cope with their stress in more adaptive ways.

My approach is holistic and I take biological, social, and psychological factors into account. From an ecological lens, I view individuals as part of macro- and micro-ecosystems that include the intersections of home, school, and community as well as race, ethnicity, and cultural factors. I work collaboratively with individuals and families in an active partnership to identify the best ways to address concerns and reach goals.

I enjoy teaching clients techniques to improve behavioral functioning, mood, sleep, stress, and anxiety. Clients are also supported in achieving deeper insight. Between sessions, skills practice (or “homework”) in the form of worksheets, relaxation practice, or brief reading is assigned when clients find it useful.

For parents, I focus on helping them feel more empowered and confident while they build skills mastery and sustain the improvement over time. When learning new parenting techniques, I provide real-time and behind-the-scenes scaffolding and coaching. By the end of our time together, you will have a solid knowledge of behavioral principles, be able to maintain results, and flexibly apply the skills to new goals. Many clients I’ve worked with proudly share the knowledge with their friends and family.

Some fun / fun-ish facts about me

I grew up in the Bay Area and wanted to become a child psychologist after my parents divorced because I wanted to help other children who struggled with major life changes. My dream of becoming a psychologist was further solidified after watching the show “The Profiler” as a tween. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going on hikes, trying new restaurants, catching up with friends, and spending time with my husband and son. I love traveling, crystals, anything poodle-related, and K-drama. In the future, I’d like to learn more about qi gong, food science, energy psychology, and metalsmithing.
